Methodology and sources
How the numbers on our advice pages were arrived at and what exactly they mean.
Three factors we take into account
On our advice pages, we specify the time, material weight and difficulty level. Here’s exactly where these figures come from.
Fitting time
A range, not a single number
Time estimates (“20–25 minutes”, “30–40 minutes”) are taken from internal measurements of real-world applications during product development and from repeated validation whilst finalising 30 scenarios and their 4 alternative instructions.
We give times as a range because:
- A beginner needs more time than a repeat user
- More missing teeth = more stages
Material weight
DentiFlex / DentiFlex PLUS
The weights are taken from of repeated testing of real-world restorations in each of the 30 scenarios. These are Approximate minimums - This depends on individual anatomy.
The values are also rounded up to give you a margin for repetition. If you have any material left over, you can reheat and reshape it.
Difficulty
Low / Medium / High
The three-stage scale is based on a combination of three factors:
- Number of adjacent teeth as reference points
- Location - Front teeth are simpler than back teeth
- Scope of the procedure - 1 tooth vs. 3 teeth vs. gaps in both rows
How the success rate was calculated
Success rates (“70–82%”, “85–92%”) are Internal estimates Based on repeated testing and feedback from customers who have sent us photos or descriptions of the results.
We provide the values as a range, as success depends on individual anatomy, manual dexterity and a willingness to try repeatedly (DentiFlex is thermoplastic – you can try again if the first attempt does not fit).
The lower limit represents First attempt, the top edge represents 2nd–3rd attempt or a second treatment following a telephone consultation.
Sources of information about the material
The chemical and physical data on DentiFlex / DentiFlex PLUS polymers are taken from the official datasheets of the manufacturer, Ingevity.
DentiFlex (bridge)
Capa® 6500
Linear PCL homopolymer
→ Ingevity datasheet
DentiFlex PLUS (adhesive)
Capa® 8502A
Co-polyester diol
→ Ingevity datasheet
You can find out more about biocompatibility and composite dental crowns on the website Materials and safety.
⚠ This is NOT medical advice
Content on the Denticor advice pages is Product instructions for use, not an individual dental consultation.
Instructions help customers how to fit a temporary dental prosthesis correctly in various clinical situations. For an individual assessment of your case (e.g. gum inflammation, loose teeth, allergies) Always consult your dentist.
Denticor is a temporary aesthetic solution, not a substitute for definitive dental treatment.
Methodology update
We update this page when we change the methodology, add a new scenario or obtain new test data.
