After a tooth extraction

Have you had a tooth extracted? Let it heal first. Only use Denticor once the site has healed.

After extraction, the first concern isn’t appearance. The first concern is the wound. If the site is still bleeding, hurting, swollen, or if your dentist has told you not to touch it – do not use Denticor at this stage. It really comes into its own later on, whilst you’re waiting for an implant, a bridge or your next appointment, and the gap is getting in the way of your daily life.

The most important distinction: Denticor is not intended for a fresh wound or the tooth socket. It is a temporary aesthetic cover for the gap – nothing more. It does not address healing, the root, infection or provide a permanent solution.

The wound is healing, the gap is now a nuisance, and you’re looking for something to restore your confidence in everyday situations.

When to proceed, when not to

After a tooth has been extracted, it’s healing that matters, not time.

For some people, the site heals in two weeks; for others, in six. Denticor is not fitted according to a fixed schedule, but according to the condition of the wound.

Definitely not right now

  • the wound is bleeding or is sensitive
  • If you have swelling, inflammation or severe pain
  • The dentist has prohibited any manipulation at the site of the procedure
  • You’re not sure if the site has healed yet

Perhaps

  • The area has healed, with no pain or swelling
  • are you waiting for an implant, a bridge or your next appointment?
  • the gap has stable neighbouring teeth
  • You just want a temporary cosmetic solution whilst treatment is ongoing

Not sure?

If you are unsure whether the extraction site has healed, ask your dentist before fitting Denticor. Do not probe the healing socket with your tongue or fingers. Follow the aftercare instructions you received, and do not fit the replacement while the area is painful, swollen or bleeding.

Timing

When does a fresh wound become a gap?

1

Day of treatment

No. On the day of extraction, Denticor is not used. The priority is to manage any bleeding, ensure a blood clot forms in the socket, rest, and follow the dentist’s instructions.

2

The first few days

Still, be careful. Even if the bleeding has stopped, the area may be sensitive, swollen and the shape of the gum may be changing. Even if the Denticor moulds to the area, it won’t fit properly after a few days.

3

The site has healed

Once the gum has stopped hurting, the swelling has gone down and you’re waiting for an implant, a bridge or your next appointment – that’s when Denticor can be useful as a temporary aesthetic restoration.

4

Before your appointment

Remove Denticor before your dental appointment. It should not obstruct examination or treatment. Follow your dentist’s instructions about whether and when you may put it back after the appointment.

Mechanics

Denticor does not rest against the wound. It is held in place by the adjacent teeth.

After an extraction, everyone asks the same thing: “Will I hurt myself doing this?” That’s why it’s important to know exactly where the replacement rests and where it doesn’t.

No pressure on the denture base

The replacement is designed to take support from the neighbouring teeth, not from a fresh extraction socket. Do not press DentiFlex into the socket or onto healing gum tissue. Wait until the area has healed and follow the fitting instructions for your selected teeth.

It is held in place mechanically – by a form-fit lock

Prepare DentiFlex according to your fitting guide and let it cool to a comfortably warm temperature before mouth contact. Fill the hollow crown and shape the support around neighbouring teeth without pressing on the gum. Remove the piece while it is still soft, let it harden fully outside the mouth, then check the fit and easy removal.

Removability

Before a dental check-up, cleaning or another procedure, remove the piece and put it aside. Follow the instructions you receive about putting it back afterwards. Denticor is a temporary option for the waiting period.

Are you ready?

Before you choose a kit, check whether now is the right time.

The selector helps you mark the missing-tooth positions and checks which neighbouring teeth are present. It cannot assess wound healing or diagnose a problem. Confirm that the site is ready with your dentist when needed, then use the selection to choose the appropriate tooth package.

Packaging options

After the site has healed and your confirmed tooth selection meets the positional requirements, choose the package by the number of teeth.

After extraction, the shape of the gum changes naturally. Therefore, do not measure the width of the gap until healing is complete – and the DentiFlex material can be reheated and adjusted at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions following extraction.

Can I use this straight after extraction?

No. Do not place Denticor on a fresh extraction wound or into the socket. Keep the healing area undisturbed and follow your dentist’s aftercare instructions. If you are unsure when the area is ready for a removable replacement, ask before fitting it.

Will this affect my planned implant or bridge?

Denticor is removable: take it out before dental appointments and tell your dentist what you are using. Whether and when it is appropriate during an implant or bridge treatment plan depends on the condition of the area and your dentist’s instructions. If you have been told not to touch the area, follow that advice.

What if the gap changes?

It will change – and that’s normal. After extraction, the shape of the gum naturally remodels over several weeks. A Denticor that fitted last Tuesday may not fit this Friday. That is why it often needs to be reshaped. This is not a fault with the material; it is simply the reality of the healing process. That is precisely why DentiFlex can be reheated and reshaped at any time – and if the gap changes significantly after healing, please consult us about the measurements and we will help you.

After a tooth has been extracted, start with one question: is it the right time?

If the wound has not healed, wait and follow your dentist’s advice. Once the site is ready, the tooth map helps you check the missing positions and neighbouring teeth before choosing a package. It cannot determine whether a wound has healed.
